Why is my payment not going through?

Written by Daniel Bamidele

There are a few reasons why a payment might fail or get stuck.

Check your bank details

Make sure the recipient’s:

  • Account number

  • Account name

  • Bank details

  • Currency

are all correct before trying again.

Your bank may be blocking the payment

Your bank may sometimes stop or delay a payment if it looks unusual.

If that happens, contact your bank and confirm that you’re trying to make the payment.

You may have reached your Calen limit

Your account may have daily, weekly or transaction limits.

You can check the limits available to you in your Calen app

Check your Calen app

Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Calen app.

You can check for updates in the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.

Check your connection

A weak or unstable internet connection can interrupt a payment.

Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then try again.

There may be a temporary system issue

Calen, a banking partner or a payment network may occasionally experience downtime or maintenance.

If everything looks correct, wait a few minutes and try again.

Your payment may need additional checks

Sometimes a transaction may be held for security or compliance review.

If this happens, we may ask you for additional information before the payment can continue.

Still not working?

Contact Calen Support and include:

  • The amount and currency

  • Where you were trying to send the money

  • The error message you received

  • The approximate time you tried the payment

  • A screenshot of the error, if possible

Don’t keep retrying the same payment repeatedly if you’re unsure what’s happening. Contact us and we’ll help you check it.
